When I start composing scenography and costumes for a choreographic performance, I, of course, first of all start from the movement and choreography that the choreographer comes up with, and then from the text, time and location of the action, but this time we immediately came up with the visuals. We decided to move the play to the sixties. Warmth, comfort, intimacy and bright colors in clothes. Apartment of Viktor Zilov. Soft light, patterned carpet, green lamp, radio, telephone, all vintage items from those distant years. On the sofa there are familiar strangers in identical suits, the fact is that our main character is played by three actors at the same time, that is, all three actors are different psychological sides of one character. Zilov, an elderly young man, is an indifferent hero whose life is lost in preparation for the elusive duck hunt.
The performance raises from the depths of the characters' souls the most secret thoughts, the most desperate experiences, which are expressed in incredibly touching choreographic sketches. The set is intimate, all the actors are very close to the audience, here and now, hence the realism of the details. And at the end of the play there is a paradoxical way out of the current difficult situation, the main character drowns in small rubber duckies, plays with them like a child, jumps on them, carefully places them on the carpet, as if he had been waiting for this all his life, as if he loves only them and finally achieved his dream.
