Experimental production project
2020
Director: Timur Sharafutdinov
Stage and Costume designer: Julia Vetrova
This performance has an interesting history of creation, at first, I drew sketches, and they really inspired the director, but when we started working on the project directly on stage, we came up with a completely different idea, radically opposite, which also captured us and we became exactly embody it. We wanted to tell our history and the stories of people through antique things that have survived to this day, and then the labor-intensive work of searching for rare vintage interior and exterior items, works of art, clothing, household items, toys, books and so on began. I traveled to many flea markets, landfills, warehouses of valuables, antique shops. After I managed to assemble a labyrinth of antiques in the space of the stage (black box), into which the actors entered and each found their place for themselves, a place for their story that they wanted tell the audience. The elongated space of the stage allowed us to seat the audience in such a way that the weight of our labyrinth was clearly visible from all angles. I still treasure every single thing we found.
